Is the 1963 Corvette power brake hose valve cover bracket painted orange, cad plated or natural steel?

Pictures on Pg 124 and 127 of Noland's C2 Restoration and Technical Guide clearly show the bracket as shiny steel (it doesn't look cad plated).....but certainly not painted...

Somebody on the CF said they saw a pic in Dobbin's book that showed it as painted black; I've never seen one done up like that..

I bought an NOS one from Dr. Rebuild about 20 years ago at the Florida Regional. Looked Cad plated to me.

Maybe - mine certainly doesn't have a hint of rust on it after 5 years, but it sure isn't black or orange painted...

Bracket from my '63, prior to rebuild, had virtually no rust, no apparent plating left either, if it was ever there. No evidence of ever being painted. Joe
