Finish on '69 air cleaner stud -- zinc or dark phosphate?

    Hi all,

The '68/'69 judging guide does not seem to say anything about the finish on the air cleaner mounting stud that screws into the carb on quadrajet cars. (It only mentions that the top of it is tapered.)

There are multiple reproductions on the market claiming to be "correct", and some are bright zinc-plated, while others are dark phosphate-plated. My research so far suggests that this part was likely dark phosphate-plated from the factory, but I have never seen one like this at any of my NCRS meets -- they are always bright zinc-plated.

Can anyone confirm/deny my suspicion that this stud was originally dark phosphate-plated? I know it's a minor detail, but I'd like to get it right...

    Thanks,
    Paul

Originals were phosphate finished, NOT zinc, and regardless of engine.
