I can no longer open either door from the inside of my 1964 convertible
due to wear and age of the door latch mechanism. I have to reach outside the car and
press the outer handle to release the door.
I pulled out both latches and will need get a welder to add a small braze to the lever
that will allow the locking tooth to clear the striker sprag.
My problem is that I need to know what metal these latches are made of, so I can buy the correct brazing rods.
Are they made out of mild steel? Any information is appreciated.
