    1968 A/C fitting with muffler

When I got my 66, it had a few 68 parts on it that I could tell by the date codes. When I could, I've slowly updated parts and one of the parts that I took off was the A/C fitting with the muffler that attaches to the rear of the compressor (I had a 68 compressor). It doesn't have any dates or markings that I can see and I was wondering if it was also a 68 corvette fitting or just some generic piece? I found a few pictures from the internet that people claim to be a NOS or correct 68 fitting that look just like mine, but I have also found pictures of fittings that look similar to what I have, but the high side pipe coming off the muffler goes off in a different direction or instead of the block that mates to the compressor its the older binocular shape.

I figured I would come here and see what the people that have a 68 A/C car actually have.

    Jeremy -
I have 3 1968 C60 ac cars with what I believe are original mufflers. I am posting some photos of each of them for comparison.

The fourth photo shows a tig weld to the low pressure side fitting that I had done to repair damage to the barbed fitting.
That is not TFP. Also, the crimp fittings I did to prevent possible leaks vs. using hose clamps as original.

I would be interested in knowing what other 1968 parts you have that you removed that may be useful to me in restorations of my 1968s.

Thank you and let me know if you need more photos.

Parts still on the car are heads and starter.

I had an alternator, distributor, ignition shielding pieces, and pulleys but they are all gone now. I can maybe pull up numbers of them if that helps.

Only things I still have is this A/C muffler, compressor, and a water temp sender. I also have a heater shut off valve that I couldn't identify (again I have a 66 so it wasn't for that) and not sure if 68 had one of those valves or not.

        Jeremy,

I know your thread here is about '68 compressor mufflers but you've mentioned that you have a heater shut off valve that you can't identify. If you're referring to the hot water SOV, those were dated back in the 1960s. I'm attaching 3 photos of a '67 Covette original valve. Find the arrow then wire brush the flange lip just below it and you should find the date. Let us know. Mike

Yes that's the 63-67 heater shutoff valve that I'm use to, but not what came originally on my 66 when I got it. Below is what I have. I think its just an aftermarket piece, especially since it has an "EVERHOT" symbol on the top, but I also thought the fitting with the muffler was aftermarket, but I guess its not.
