Maybe we just disagree on this. When I read "The last 1967 Corvette to leave the factory", the obvious meaning of this is the last serial number. If I was a bidder and later learned otherwise, I would feel deceived.

I agree. There is the great potential to misinterpret the meanings and I believe most folks would interpret either statement as being equivalent to being the very final car made for the 1967 production year. Why not outright state that 1390 cars were assembled after this one but it was left on the lot long after all the other '67s were shipped?

I think the reason it is confusing is: How many people understand that a car could be left in the factory parking lot long after cars made after it on the line were shipped out? Not many - I certainly didn't.

Why is it a notable fact that the ordering party couldn't afford to complete the deal such that the car sat on the lot for 2 months? Me: It is not notable, so for what purpose is the statement added but to imply something special that really isn't special.

Let me say that I do understand leaving the factory. I flew many of Bill Lear 23's, first lears out there. I flew the first one made and the serial # was 22 or 26, I forget. They were given a serial # when they were sold, not when built!! So maybe there is a bit of this in the Corvette.
