What is the difference between a '67 L36 intake manifold for K19 and non-K19? Same casting number, but a different part #

    Hi David,
I have a 67 L36 with K19 and I didn't think there was any difference between them. The parts book lists the same part number for both.
Where did you get the two different part numbers?
    Kind regards

Also keep in mind that with K19 cars there was a spacer to raise the thermostat housing on the intake manifold, and a different part numbered upper radiator hose as well compared to the non-K19 390 cars. ARA

Peter - Page 353 from Noland Adams 2nd edition. Although the page noted is discussing the '66 L36 intake manifold, the casting number is the same as '67
Ara - You always seem to have the complete and correct answer to all my questions!
        Thank you both.

66-67 Passenger cars used a manifold just like the 948, but was for a Q-jet

On the 1966 427/390 with K19 the intake and the water pump part numbers are the same, only the fittings on the intake and the water pump are different. K19 cars are different animals. Also on the k19 it requires special carburetor for the small block along with the big block cars.

Theoretically, there could be different part numbers for manifolds with the same casting number. In this case, that's exactly how it was. 1966 L-36 with K-19 used intake manifold GM PART #3888096. Those without K-19 used intake manifold GM PART #3876818. The GM #3888096 was discontinued in November, 1968 and replaced by the GM #3876818.

So, what was the difference between the 2 manifolds? Well, we know whatever it was it was not a feature of the casting since both manifolds had the same casting number. Manifolds are usually not supplied with fittings so that's probably not the difference although it is POSSIBLE that the 3888096 was supplied with the K-19 style bypass fitting and the 3876818 was supplied with no fitting.

The GM #3876818 was discontinued without supersession in October, 1982.
