Both Toyo (Japanese) and Hankook (Korean) have US tire manufacturing facilities. I couldn't find specific country of origin for the Toyo Extensa A/S but the Hankook Optimo appears to be made in either Indonesia or Hungary. As you may know, often times different models from the same manufacturer are made in different countries. Out of curiosity I looked at the Goodyear Assurance model which is listed as made in the US, Canada, Chile, and Mexico. It appears that about the only consistently US-made tire is BF Goodrich, which is actually a sub-company of Michelin.

Now... search for white walls. They are definitely the rarity of sidewall choices further narrowing the brands in the running. Can anyone find a US made white wall that is well-rated and reasonably priced - ~$100 or less?

      Re: Tires

I have a thread on another forum about the "browning" of whitewalls recently on some of the OEM manufacturer tires, specifically Tiger Paw AWP-II Uniroyal tires (others cited similar issues with other tires). After two new sets with the same issue I swapped to Hankook Optimos and 5 months later the whitewalls are still white (I haven't touched them) and they are reasonably priced and run better than the Uniroyals...

I dislike running foreign tires on my split window but enough was enough...

I have these tires in BSW in 225/70-15 on my 73, and they are satisfactory with a conservative appearance.
I am getting the country of manufacture from the Tire Rack website -- the vast number of other retailers' sites I've searched don't have this info. Tire Rack doesn't list the Trendsetter but the 3-4 other Cooper touring/all-season/passenger tires they do carry appear to be made in the US.

Thanks Frank, coincidentally, that's the tire which is #1 on my list. Plus I like that red/red combination, just bought that in a '65 convertible.
