1970 350/350 Distributor "football" 183

I've looked at numerous posts and an old parts book. How can you tell the type of football from the number or the shape? Mine is "183."

That is a good question. At least you can see the number as sometimes the number is stamped on the opposite side.

I believe the 183 football was the one used on 1969 L46 distributors. It may have also been used on the 1970 L46. The 1969 Corvette Parts Book lists in Group 2.32, shaft, #800476 as being for the 1969 Corvette w/H/Per. (350) main, w/auto cam (w/1111493). They used to pop up once in a while NOS in the box on ebay. They did have the 183 football. Dave Fiedler used an NOS 183 football shaft to restore an L46 distributor for my 69 L46.

Thanks Lawrence. My car is a '70 350 hp, and I believe the distributor is original.
