    horns

I am installing the horns on my 66 with factory air. The AIM shows the P/S horn bolting to the left of the radiator support in front of the wheel well. The AIM shows the D/S horn bolting to the lower radiator support. I also believe that the condenser bolts in the same place. Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of the horns before I removed them as I am doing a body off restoration. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mel, From my memory, on our 1967 SB with AC. The PS horn is mounted to a flat steel plate that is riveted to the front side of the PS inner fender.

        Re: horns

        Hi Mel,

Done lots of research on this since my original driver's horn was missing from my AC '66 when I bought her way back. With the help of the archives and discussions with fellow NCRS members here's what I've determined:

-The condenser partially covers the factory driver's side horn mount hole. The one surrounded by those two vertical "bumps". Since that hole is covered, the factory installed the driver's horn into the hole for the left lower condenser mount. The horn mount bolt then passes through the mount clip of the fan shroud on the inner side of the radiator support.

-What's interesting to me is that on all of my file photos of original cars the horn mount bolt is a recessed hex head bolt with captured conical washer. I'm including all of my photos of known original cars. I think all of these photos are all '67s. Should be the same for the '66.

-These are all NCRS TDB prior posted photos. Not sure who posted these, but I really appreciate that you've shared these great shots. Mike
