C3 1973 Side Door Rear Glass Weather Strip Question

in the 73 AIM UPC C01-C12 Sheet 9

    Part 5 39355008

Two questions, was this part painted black to blend with the weatherstrip or stainless finish?

The AIM indicates it is attached to the body with rivets.

Were these aluminum or pop rivet?

    Thank you Roger

    Roger,
Although I can't verify the finish on that piece for '73, 1974 coupes had the same part number and had a black finish. It maybe painted but I think it is plated black oxide. Not sure about the rivets. BTW, '75, '76 and '77 AIM illustrations show the same part number as '73 and '74, 3935508.

      Thank you Bob

My parts were black on the backside.
I believe you are right, they do look anodized black.
Over the years the areas exposed to the elements have very little black anodized finish remaining.
With the weather strip in place, very little is visible even if they were to be re-anodized.

As easy as it comes off, I think they are painted. Anodizing is not easy to remove.

I have used SEM Trim Black to refinish them.
