What exactly did the battery access door look like on these cars having factory air? By that I mean was the door in place during engine compartment blackout and thus painted along with the rest of the engine compartment and the bolts holding it on were also sprayed with the black? Was the door in place when the sound deadening was sprayed in the wheel house? The car in question was built at St. Louis on Feb.22, 1966. Tried to find the answer using the search feature but no luck. Any images or information appreciated, and thanks inn advance for your help.

John, does it appear that the door was blacked out on the inside surface or left unpainted? It seems in your images that the sound deadener was applied before the door was installed. Is that how it looks to you. Is the inside surface of the door painted with blackout?- Top
