Radio experts:
The U58 stereo in my 1970 isn't working correctly- the right channel is faint and there's a lot of static while turning either knob.
Is it still possible to repair/restore these old things using original technology? Is it worth it?
As an option, what do you think of the conversion services offered that replace the guts of the head with modern circuitry and eliminate the external amp? Would this option be more reliable?
Judging isn't a concern. I'm looking for an original looking radio that sounds as well as can be expected using the two original speakers, and will live a long time.
