    Q: Well Nuts & 4-Hole Grommet for a '72

While the engine is at the machinist/builder, I am taking the opportunity to replace, refresh, and refinish, components in the engine compartment. Two questions have arisen while working on the firewall:

    1) <blue arrow> Is the power window 30A breaker fastened with screws and nuts like the AIM shows or with well nuts just like the horn relay? My car is using the same looking screws and well nuts with correspondingly large holes in the firewall. (Is it oriented correctly or do the screws go above the wires?)

    B) <yellow arrow> The four-hole rubber grommet for the tach cable, power window breaker wire, etc. is totally missing on my car -- just a large 2" hole in the firewall. I ordered a replacement and was expecting it to be split so that the tach cable could be slid into it from the side rather than threaded through a hole. I can't see how either end of that cable is gonna fit! Are these grommets supposed to be slit from the outside circumference to the holes?

    Thanks for the help.

With a little more AIM sleuthing on my part, I see that while the illustrations for attaching the horn relay and p.window breaker are different, they carry the same part number for the "nut". It also shows the fasteners at the bottom of the mounting position. So, I guess I'm good on Q1.
