    Correct steering joint assembly

    Guys,

I'm getting ready to reinstall my steering column on my 69 coupe resto. Trying to figure out the correct assembly of my steering joint assembly. It's been about 15 years since I disassembled the components and the AIM and service manual were not very instructive. I cleaned and had some of the components re-plated years ago but just broke them out today to get ready to install the column this weekend. I've attached several pics of the components as well as what I think might be how they go together. Can anyone tell me if I've done this correctly? Also, the AIM talks about spacers that appear to be inserted into the coupler during column install that are removed after install is completed. Are these necessary? Thanks for any assistance.

    Mike

    Mike-----

You have assembled it correctly. The spacers center the pins on the lower flange/flexible joint with the slots on the upper flange. They were installed on the PRODUCTION flange as well as SERVICE lower flanges. They are not necessary.
