    c-2 brake rotors ?

Are c-2 front and rear rotors identical and interchangeable except for the parking brake adjusting hole? I purchased front and rear aftermarket rotors with different part numbers and they are the same dimensions including the p/b adj hole on all four.

In SERVICE from GM, the front rotors were only supplied with riveted-on hubs. The rear rotors were only supplied in GM SERVICE as the rotor alone, without attached spindle.

In the aftermarket, the rotors front front and rear, are usually supplied as just the bare rotor. However, if different aftermarket part numbers exist for front and rear, there MAY be a difference with respect to the rears for the machining/finishing for the parking brake drums. If so, I expect this would be confirmed if the rear rotors cost more than the fronts. The basic rotors are the same, front and rear.

Joe I recall buying the front rotor/hubs from the local chevy dealer about 35 years ago, my price was $100 each.

There is a difference between the front and rear rotor hats, I don't know the dimensions to list them. The caliper won't sit centered over the rotor if they are switched

Yes, I have NOS examples of both the front and rear rotors [none for sale]. I've had them for a long time but don't remember what I paid for them.

Also, I do recall now the difference you mention. However, I think that is part of the machining on the rears for the brake drums for the parking brake. I think the castings for the front and rear rotors are the same.

I have looked a little closer at the rotors and notice the ones with the front part # have small metal weights pinched to the center vanes of the rotors. The rear ones do not. I believe they only balance the front rotors. I purchased the rotors many years ago and don't recall the vendor.
Thanks to all for your post. Dennis

It could very well be that the front rotors were balanced and the rears not. Nevertheless, there is a difference in the machining of the interior of the hat section for the rear brake rotors for the reason that Gary described above as well as other reasons.
