Car painted Red in Interior

I have a 1969 Convert Daytona Yellow In the process of adding Vintage air and noticed under the yellow paint was Red??Only in the interior areas, Was told it happened back then can someone enlighten me about this? Thx And stay healthy!!

What color does the Trim Tag indicate?

It's not the dark red primer that was used?

No sir its totally red in the kick panel areas by shifter even under sill plates..Was told they took factory painted cars and repainted to sell. Another member here has the same thing.

Not saying dealers never painted cars at customers request because it has happened. However, unlikely on a red Corvette and I can't imagine them changing the trim plate to match. Further investigation is warranted and hope you don't find an "issue". Chip.

Any idea of the history of your car?
Some of these have been painted multiple times by multiple owners. Yours may have been made red at one point before you purchased it.

I have it tracked backed to the 90's and has always been yellow...

David, welcome to NCRS and the Tech Discussion Board (TDB),
Pat Hulst said it. As you know, back in the 70s and 80s people changed the color of their cars with abandon. Isn't it possible that some owner between 1970 and 1990s, of which there may have been many, bought the car and immediately took the guts out and had the car changed to red? It could have been painted many times in the 20 years before you bought it. Way back when, it was almost a requirement if you bought a used Corvette that you have it re-sprayed red (or metallic brown, or some other weird color). Shops like Earl Schieb, Carcoa, and probably many others had one-day service. Drive in yellow one day, and drive out red the next. I believe that is your answer.

As Don notes, that leaves 20-30 years of unknown.
Short answer is that sometime between 1969 and the 90s it was red.
