    Current 93 - 96 Service Replacement Antenna

Suffered an antenna mast mishap yesterday. Does anyone know if the mast on the current GM replacements (#10156160) is configured identical to the original? Is the tip the same or will it be noticeable on the judging field?

    Thanx

Floyd, Sorry to hear about your antenna mishap. The service replacement tip appears very similar to a typical factory production tip. The big issue with the replacement mast is the top shaft is not magnatized and will not react to a magnet. A seasoned C4 judge should put a magnet to the top portion of the shaft. If it doesn't react to a magnet, it is a not like a typical factory production mast. I am attaching 2 photos of the black tip of a service replacement for your consideration. One photo is a raised antenna, the other is lowered. I hope this help.

GM #10156160 is the original part number for the 1996 Corvette antenna assembly which is also SERVICE for 1993-95 (which originally used GM #10143556). I believe the tip on the currently available 10156160 is the same as original but I'm not 100% sure it's identical in every microscopic way. It is possible for small changes to occur over time within a single part number.
