    3770245 dual deep-groove water pump pulley 3770245, 2-piece versus 1-piece?

    Hello All:

Sorry if this question has been answered before, but a quick search of the archives did not yield an answer.

It's my impression that early versions of the 3770245 high performance small block water pump pulley were made from two pieces welded together, but at some point GM revised it to a 1-piece construction. For the 2-piece design, the welded joint is clearly visible on the front of the pulley, so it's a very obvious difference from the 1-piece design.

I'm interested to know when the transition to the 1-piece design took place. In particular, which style is correct for a 1967 L79?

    Joe,
All of the original pulleys I have seen are the 2 piece design. I think the reproduction pulley might be one piece. I have noticed on original pulleys the early ones don't have a part number stamped on them but the late ones do.

      Bob and Joe------

I totally agree. I don't think I have ever seen an original or, even, GM SERVICE pulley that was of the one piece design. It is possible, though, that in very late SERVICE they went to a one piece design. This pulley was available in SERVICE until about 10 years ago.
