Fel-Pro 1802 Pan Gasket, I'm confused

From everything I've found here, the Fel-Pro 1802 pan gasket is correct for an original 1963 pan.

Does not look like a good fit to me, comments please.

I believe you have the right part number (i.e. the older, thinner, original front seal), but I agree about questionable fitment. I understand the desire for originality, but honestly this is one of the reasons why I only use the 1-piece gasket now (FelPro #OS-34509-T (blue) or Mahle #OS32458 (Black)). Before the 1-piece gaskets were available I'd put generous amounts of Permatex Ultra-Black sealer at the four intersection corners to try and stop inevitable leaks with the old multi-piece gaskets.

Harry, you may find if you do a trail fit with the gaskets attached to engine block fitment may be better. I use the black or yellow weatherstrip adhesive works good to hold gaskets to block then the rubbers glued with sealant at corners and skim the bottom of rubbers also. once torqued you should be good. Good luck . p.s.no oil on glued surfaces Brake cleaner works great.

The Fel-Pro 1802 is a correct gasket set for the application. However, I also agree that the one piece gasket is the only way to go. I would NEVER use the 4 piece set again (even though I have many NOS gasket sets[none for sale]). GM went to the one piece style gasket on 1986+ Corvette small blocks. They did not do this because the 4 piece style worked just as well. In case you are wondering, the GM gasket, GM #10108676, cannot be used on a 1957-74 Corvette small block since the 10108676 is designed for a right side dipstick and thick front seal. The Fel-Pro or Mahle gaskets are virtually identical with a left side dipstick and thin front seal.
