    1960 T-10 Input Shaft Spacer?

I hope everyone is doing well these days. I am taking the time to finally finish rebuilding my transmission. My first attempt!..

When i removed the bearing from the input shaft, (4th gear) and there was spacer about .035" thick. i ordered the kit from D&L and this space is not included in the kit. I am using the ST-12, and Passenger Car supplement as references. All the schematics i have seen don't show this spacer, My question is should i replace the spacer with the old one, or leave it out completely?

    Appreciate your help on this.

    Stay Safe!

    Joe,
I am almost sure the spacer is needed unless the width of the new bearing is wider than the one removed. If the spacer is not used then there will be more play in the 3/4 syncro. If I remember, it was also used as a oil slinger. I would seek out more info on that.

Some one has added the spacer to move the input shaft back to keep it from jumping out of 4th gear.It is not a bad thing . You would juts have to use a thinner snap ring

I believe the spacer is installed behind the snap ring.
My try this PDF link for more information.

Domenic is correct, it's and oil slinger and if it installed incorrectly will keep oil out of the bearing.

Thanks, i did some more research and believe the correct thing is to remove this spacer, that is between the bearing and the gear.
Install the bearing, and then put a spacer and the snap ring ..

The pics were copied from the line in Richards post..
