C1 heater valve capillary tube routing

Does anyone know where the bulb end of the heater capillary tube is routed? Does it enter the heater box at some point? Does anyone have a photo of this?

Keith, I just tried to take photos of my 1960, but I could not get a photo of the cap tube, but it appears to go into the heater box.

Keith, if you have a copy of the latest JG, look on pages 46 and 47.

Thanks Joe for your help. I do have the latest JG and have seen the photos but they show the tube leading back under the valve mounting bracket. I am wondering where it goes from there? Does it enter the heater box at some point? If so, where does it enter the box?

Yes, it enters the heater box to detect temperature changes...

Thank you Frank! Good reference. I used it when I put my heater back together. The mystery is becoming clearer - so, the capillary tube end is mounted on the capillary tube bracket located between the blower housing and heater core box. Now, there must be a small space, port or hole somewhere between the two housings to allow the tube to pass through it. So the question is: where is this opening?

Re: C1 heater valve capillary tube routing

Here are photos of one I took apart before rebuild.

(note I made some changes to my original text about gasket placement)

There is a channel/slot in the bracket that it passes through. The last 2 photos of disassembled pieces show it clearer.

IIRC, it sits under the gasket of the bracket before the heater core housing is attached to the cage studs. The photo seems to show the gasket was over the tube.(gasket residue on top of tube) The tube gets slightly compressed into the slot.

Note there is only one gasket on the bracket between the bracket and heater core housing. IIRC, many kits supply 2 bracket gaskets but only one was used originally.

Re: C1 heater valve capillary tube routing

Excellent! So, it appears that the tube was routed on top of the gasket that separated the valve bracket and the heater core box. That answers my question. Thanks very much!
