Basically, the server had to be upgraded to enable the NCRS services to continue work.

Underlying software (PHP and database) are depreciated (discontinued) and wouldn't be permitted on the server after April.

Both PHP and the database software have updated security enhancements.

vBulletin v5 has an extremely bad reputation. Users/admins don't like it and the admins forums report it as being problematic. If you notice corvetteforum still uses vBulletin 4. Internet Brands owns both vBulletin 5 software company and corvetteforum.

The Remember Me function, due to the updates, will probably never work as it did before. Rob and John have hundreds of hours invested in the server and software migration upgrades. Especially, trying to get the Remember Me functionality to work across all of the different NCRS software.

I had trouble the first few days, but I have been automatically signed in since Friday.
Using Chrome.

Reba,

Thank you for letting us know. Rewriting the cookies for Remember Me was something we couldn't test without disrupting NCRS services before the upgrade.

Rob worked for several days after the upgrade getting the Remember Me function working. So, that was the reason the Remember Me function didn't work good to start with.

Well the "remember me" function doesn't function for me.
I use Firefox.
I've tried the cookie delete but....no-go

I can live with it, but it used to work for me.

FWIW, I'm getting the same failure to remember me on my ubuntu Linux system which uses firefox 68.0.1.

Have set my browser (Safari) to pre-populate login information - easy work around.

Safari Has been logging me off frequently for years. I’m on a Mac laptop, So it’s easy to get back in. Also I have to sign in separately for the classifieds. Always been that way.

And that behavior continues tonight with ubuntu-Firefox. Gary, is this really considered a closed matter? I got help desk mail to that effect.

1) There was a boat load of Help Desk tickets, so we closed the ones with known issues or no recent responses.
2) Remember Me is customized software that works across 5 disparate software programs. Rob has spent countless hours to get the "Remember Me" function to work as well as it does.

Personally, I've run tests on the "Remember Me" function across all popular Windows OS browsers as well as an Apple iPad with Chrome and Safari and have stayed logged into the NCRS Discussion Board for over 36 hours - as long as I kept the browser tabs open.

If browsers are closed and devices are shut down, the "Remember Me" function may not work.

For now, until there's more available time in the future for us to work on it, the "Remember Me" function is working as best it can.

There are still software updates to be completed in the near future and problem fixes that are reported daily to be repaired. Every day there are multiple new things reported with all the custom written NCRS back office software.

Understood and appreciated, Gary. I get that everyone involved in this change-over has worked and continues to work very hard to make everything operate smoothly.

When I got the notice of the ticket being resolved, I was a little concerned there had been a lack of communication.

Rob & John tested the new server & software from mid Jan to late Feb on a temporary server.

Only thing we couldn't really test is the "Remember Me" cookie programming, because the temporary server had to restrict members from accessing.

We have been working the last couple of weeks on solving (or reducing the impact of) this issue, I hope for most people the logon and Remember Me function works as intended now. If not click: https://www.forums.ncrs.org/register/ResetCookie.php to remove the NCRS.org cookies which might interfere with the correct working of the logon scripts.

It is very challenging to align the different password systems of our custom made parts of the site with vBulletin forum software, GeoDesic Classified software and the ZenCart store software.

We are still struggling with upgrading the Classified software to support the currently supported php and database software we use so please notice this part still needs a separate logon.

Good job! The remember me function is working for me now.
