    69 wiper transmission disassemble/lube

working on installing the wiper mechanism on my rebuild.

Has anyone disassembled the wiper transmission(s) on a 69 (L46) for the purpose of lubricating it? If so, how did you take it apart?
I had thought about squirting some oil around the shaft but noticed on closer inspection a small gob of grease in the bottom of the transmission around the shaft.

My usual approach to this kind of problem is to just fiddle with it until I found how to take it apart, at which point I would damage the part. Thought I might try a smarter approach this time and see what others have done here.

    Thanks much,

    Rich

I don't believe there is any way to lubricate them. (Assuming you mean the pivot point where the wipers arms attach)
I have read where some drill a small hole in them to add lube.
I personally have never had an issue with this pivot. Living in SW Washington our wipers get some usage!
We just had 11.5" of rain in the month of January.

      To the Richards,

It would be a wise investment to send it to Steve Hackel and get it rebuilt properly. With the new lubricants on the market today you will not have to take it out of the car again. He can be reached at 1 708 687-4183.
He probably does 90% of the rebuilds when you send it to various instrument services around the country.

I am talking about the pivot point where the wiper arms attach. They just seem to be not as free turning as I would expect. Probably more from non use and age. I know grease can dry up over a long period of time.

Steve rebuilt my wiper motor for me and did a very nice job.
