1963 Wiper Motor Repair and Restoration

After searching the Forum, I found several references for Steve Hackel in Illinois for repair and restoration of wiper motors. I just got mine back and the work performed was outstanding. Just a quick thanks to everyone in the Forum for sharing their knowledge and experiences.

i didn't have that good luck with Steve Hackel in the restoration of my '57 wiper motor. After chatting with Steve about the restoration of my wiper motor Steve assurd me that he would do a NCRS style restoration. The wiper motor was very nice to start with, just needing plating and a tune up. I explained to him I wanted my own wiper motor back, not a rebuilt old core some restoration shops supply to you. He didn't send my original wiper motor back to me and the one he did fried the moment I installed it. The workmanship was awful, he keep my original parts and put on cheap repos. He may have improved on his work now, but I wouldn't go back there. I ended up sending the wiper motor to Corvette Specialities of MD West. Brian, restored the wiper motor to perfection.

Sorry to hear about your experience. It will be a couple of months before mine becomes operational in the car so I hope it works.

Steve Hackel is the best in the business for restoring Wiper Motors. None better or even close!!!!!

And you can take that to the bank!!!!!!!

I agree with Joe. The vast majority of "restorers" are simply middlemen that send them to Steve. Here's one of the C-2 wiper motors he's done for me. FLAWLESS.

Evidently Steve has upgraded his service to the collector car hobby. My bad experience with his work was a few years ago so I'm glad to hear he has improved it. Even so I'm going back to Brian at Corvette Specialtize of MD West.
