1967 Corvette Grille Support Brackets: Quick Question

Were these brackets painted black or natural on '67s? Thanks

Thank you Steve. I may be getting a new grill & just wanted to clear that up. The brackets they sell are all natural.

          Wayne,

Here's a pic of the bracket as sold from GM in the early 70's PN 3897389

As you can see they were not painted but this does not mean they were not painted when installed on the grille!

So I suppose the cars rolled off the assembly line with the brackets painted black, and other brackets were sold individually as natural, not black.

Not really true as some grille brackets were black phosphate and as you see the mounting brackets were natural steel. Most of the 63-64 brackets were black phosphate and somewhere/sometime before 67 they changed. Does anybody really know? Probably not!

I'm sure 67 brackets will be judged as painted and if you want a couple of points you better follow the judging guide.
