    Amp Gauge Capacitor Connection

Can someone peer check me to be sure this is the correct connection of the capacitor to the amp gauge? This is on a '65 396 equipped car.

    Thanks,

    James

      Jim,

Thanks for the quick reply and picture. If you could, please take a picture of the ignition switch wiring as they are configured in the rear of the switch connector.

      Best Regards,

      James

          Jim,

Thanks very much for the pictures. One more question, what is the capacitor above the temp gauge towards connected to?

          Thanks again,

It is spliced into the tan wire for the e-brake flashing bulb.

I checked my original harness removed from my '65 396 VIN 2216x and it doesn't have that capacitor or splice in the harness nor does LL's reproduction harness that I am installing. Please take one more picture of the entire backside of the cluster and post it.

              Thanks again for your help.

I don't have a pic. showing the whole cluster but here's a pic. of that capacitor. It's not part of any harness. The tan wire for the flasher bulb fits in the slot and pushing in the "nail" creates the splice. Check your old harness for a small "nick" in the tan wire caused by that nail. Did your car originally come with a radio?

The capacitor and connector are shown in the A.I.M. on page U-69 A5. Part. #3844184
