Re: power brake booster rebuilder/replating
Mike;
I know a few that have had work completed by Booster Dewey. He is not far from me in Portland OR.
I just called and got their voice mail?
They tend to close early on Fridays.
I would try his Facebook page?

Re: power brake booster rebuilder/replating
Mike,
I had Dewey do my booster and mc lid. They came back really green and pink tinted. I wasn't happy so I send them back off to Steve Gregori at Brakeboosters.com. He redid the plating and it looks great. He was fairly quick in the turnaround and I definitely got my parts back. He does a lot of classic Chevy boosters. I don't have his number handy but you can google him. Price was about the same. I posted this in an earlier post a year or so back. Dewey had done my previous 2 boosters without issue so I may have just been a plating job with new solution so the colors were "vivid and strong".- Top

Re: power brake booster rebuilder/replating
rev mike: in this case, a 65 i've owned since 1970 and has sat without moving for the last 30 years, when i removed the PB booster from the firewall, took it to the workbench, flipped it over, and a pint or so of brake fluid puked out of the booster, i figured it needed rebuilt.
i suppose you could hook a vacuum source to the booster, then depress the rod from brake pedal and watch what the rod to the master cylinder does.
in the past, i just re-installed other boosters, then tried applying the brakes. since the boosters aren't too hateful to remove from a c-2, that's my approach.
i see you are into the c-3's at present, and never having removed a booster from one of Terry's loved ones, i can't comment of the ease of removal from a c-3.. happy new year to you and yours. Saint Michael- Top

I too have never removed a booster from a C3, and I hope and pray to never do that hateful job. With the dash out it is a piece of cake, but without that access i know it is dreadful. I could describe the process to you, but this is your thread so I will not drive it any farther off topic.Terry- Top

Re: power brake booster rebuilder/replating
I won't either, except to let St Michael know that I would rather do almost any job on a C3 than remove or reinstall a power brake booster.
Attached is a picture of my son helping me reinstall one.Attached FilesVice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: power brake booster rebuilder/replating
Mike, I have use Steve Gregori @brakebooster.Com. I didn’t have a problem. I just hate shipping stuff, especially to California and it takes a week to get there and a week back. Shipping has gotten ridiculous which is an understatement. It cost a $100.00 to ship a package to Pennsylvania, that weigh 52 pounds this week.- Top

Re: power brake booster rebuilder/replating
Mike,
I have used Booster Dewey for a long time, Dewey sold the business a while back, there is s new owner. The last couple of boosters coming from him have been a bit too gold, KC had the same issue. I questioned the new owner on this at their booth at the Portland Swap Meet last year and he said that is how they come back from the plater and there was nothing he could do. You might do some research on a new rebuilder. Their turn around was fast and everything else on the booster was fine, the strong gold color needs to be toned down.- Top
