    Re: C2 paint

The car come out of paint prison in 2018 and yes the fella removed the trim and replaced it; not sure of his labor rate at the time as much of the cost was absorbed in an insurance claim (front got whacked) so I didn't break out the labor hour charge...

There is between 200 and 250 hours of labor to completely de-trim, strip all paint, Sand, primer, re-sand, prime again, sand again, paint, buff, and then install all the trim. I may have missed a few steps like taping, un-taping, washing, minor body repairs, weatherstripping.. So multiply 250 hrs times $75, or $85 or $100 per hour, add in $5000 or $6000 in paint and materials and see where you end up.
        Totally agree with this Joe.

If you want quality work with quality materials you are going to have to step up to the plate. Joey is right. To strip, fill the seams, straighten out the fiberglass warps, paint, cut and buff, it is easily 300 hours. I have had employees spend almost two weeks just cutting and buffing the paint.

Well we'll just good-naturedly have to disagree....

Even with disassembly, strip, prep paint and assembly $35K for a car without body damage is too much IMO...
I don't cheap out on things in my hobby but even I have "thresholds of pain" when it gets ridiculous...

I agree Dick. Those of us that have actually painted a car know what's involved and how much labor it takes.
