    Fuelie and power steering

Once again I am reaching out here to see if or how I could incorporate power steering when I do my engine swap in my 64 to a 6 quart oil pan on a fuel injected motor setup. My arms are big enough I don't need the workout. My understanding is that you can't with the larger oil pan? Wasn't sure if there was an option with different parts etc.

    Thank You

Use low horsepower pan, BUT you need to change the oil pump and pick-up

Roger, Make it easy on yourself and your wallet. Go to electronic assisted power steering. Type this in the advanced search.
One of my customers did this to his '64 FI car and he says it works like a dream. I believe he's from Texas and looks in on this site.
Can't remember his name at the moment. Another customer from CA did this to his '63 FI car.
Its what the hot rod guys are using. No engine modifications .
Now to wait for others to chirp in to give you exact info on how to do and where to purchase the parts. John

          Mike-----

The oil pump and pick-up does not need to be changed if the oil pan is changed from the "6 quart" oil pan to the "5 quart oil pan. The sump depth is the same for both pans. Only the sump length is different which has no bearing on the oil pump or pick-up.

The high pressure pump used with the 6 quart pan can be used with the 5 quart.

The windage tray does need to be removed, though. It will not fit with the smaller pan.
