    '63 SWC w/ Unique Suffix

While restoring my highly optioned SWC I noticed that in addition to the build sequence number (202) written in grease pencil on each of the doors, the letters "exx" are also written in grease pencil on each door as such... 202 exx. The car was built on April 11, 1963. I haven't found anyone who can tell me what "exx" means. I have heard that "e" means electric windows ( which my car has along with every other option available in 1963). By the way, the car is a 300HP 4 speed.

Yes... "E"lectic "Ex"ecutive seems like the logical answer. I'm hoping somebody out there in "NCRS Land" might have some definitive information on the "exx" suffix. Thank you very much for your response Loren. I see that you have been a member for 44 years. You obviously must know more than a thing or two. While I have owned several Corvettes over the years including a '61 (dual quad 270 hp), '65 (air roadster), '78 (silver anniversary), '82 (collector edition), '02 Z06 and '08 coupe... This "exx" thing has me scratching my head. Anything you might be able to uncover in this regard would be much appreciated.

        Dale,

One possible way to partially resolve if exx translates to EXECUTIVE is to request a NCRS shipping data report. If the vehicle was ordered through GM Central office/Tech Center or one of the many, many, many, GM supporting satellite locations or assembly plants including both proving grounds the shipping report would identify one of those as being the shipping location by city and state as well as the (zone/dealer). I don't think that will help identify the actual executive that the vehicle was ordered for. If the vehicle was built in 67 not 63, the tank sticker sometimes identified the GM executive by name or intended purpose such as show car. You will be very lucky to find the intended owner if that's your end goal. At least, you will know GM ordered the vehicle for someone or special purpose such engineering evaluation, proving ground or show/merchandising
You mention every option, does that mean, it's an air conditioned car? If so the metal trim tag would possibly have an X identifier but that has nothing to do with who or why the order was placed.
        Good luck with your search....Hugh

I do have the shipping report. The car was originally delivered to White Chevrolet in Dayton Ohio. This turns out to be one of the older Chevrolet dealerships still in operation. I contacted them in hopes that they might have some information but unfortunately they told me that they had not retained any of the paperwork from older vehicles such as mine.

"exx" doesn't translate to "executive" in my mind - do you have pictures ?
