    1970 Deck lid rubber

I bought a NOS piece that is about a foot too long and has tabs on the ends. Is this normal and I simply cut the ends to match? thanks For any help Ronnie

      Ron,

Yes, it is. I not too long ago sold an NOS weatherstrip for a late 69 thru 72 deck lid and it did have the tabs. The piece I sold had a date on the package for early 80's.

        Ronald------

The deck lid weatherstrip used in PRODUCTION for 1968-75 Corvettes, GM #3912948, was never available in SERVICE. Instead, for 68-75 SERVICE, the 1963-67 weatherstrip, GM #3826967, was specified. So, you could look forever for an NOS GM #3912948 and you'd never find one.

Ok then the NORS piece should be cut and installed to the correct length.?? The piece that I removed may have been original and it has no tabs on the ends. thanks Ronnie

Yup, that's how it is. I know it seems a shame to cut those ends off but if you want to use the piece on a 68-75, that's what you have to do. By the way, Chevrolet never instructed in SERVICE parts publications that this needed to be done for 68-75.
