69 drivers side carpeting

I purchased a set of Al knock carpeting for my interior. In question, As iIlaid the carpet for fitment and where I was going to trim, I noticed that the foot pad by the high beam switch will be very close to the pad as I make the whole. The issue I am concerned about is that when I put the kick panel back, the foot pad is almost behind the kick panel and prevents the kick panel to be installed. Did anyone have any issues and do you have any pictures.

Should there be a footpad near the high beam switch?

Yes, there was a footpad for the high beam switch. I can tell you this much: even the original installation was "dicey". I was never satisfied with the fit of the carpet/footpad in this area on my original owner 1969.

Joe, the majority of the footpad goes behind the kick panel and doesn't fit well. Was it possible that it didn't have a footpad?

Only very late 1969s had the dimmer pad, and it was unlike what was added in 1970. I doubt that any repro carpet will have it correct. There is a photo on p. 22 of the latest JG.

What is the build date of your car? Early 69's did not have a foot pad. My Oct '68 car is one. The Judging Guide says that until Sep of '69, most cars did not have pad.

My build date is 11/25 car. So i guess i had the footpad.
