I do believe your trim tag tells you!

If the body number on the trim tag starts with a "S", the body was built in St. Louis. An "A" indicates an A.O. Smith body.

A O Smith (body only) factory was in Ionia, MI. A guy named Mitchell got the business with GM, then sold out to Dow-Smith or A O Smith.

There are little things which help you ID the body factory, if you don't have the orig. trim tag. Articles are out there.
