I just renewed my insurance with Hagerty for my 65 C2 coupe and 68 Chevelle SS. They have a program now that in case my car is totaled they pay the agreed amount I'm insured for and let me keep the car. For the Corvette it's $38 a year and $28 a year for the Chevelle. The program is called Cherished Value. Sounded like a good deal to me so I enrolled.

My Hagerty just came due. I went with National Corvette Museum http://ncminsurance.com/ and saved $200 a year on my two cars over the Hagerty pricing. Same coverage. It I got this correctly it is a non-profit. I am assuming and profit goes to the Museum?
No "keep your car" coverage though.

My insurance is good for up to 1000 miles a year.
As I have not been putting more than about 400 per year, on my car, so far.
Pictures of all sides were required.
I would call them to get details about restoration insurance.
My experience is a human answers the phone right away! Imagine that?

I think restoration insurance is a great idea.
A friend of mine just had a fire in the engine compartment of his Camaro.
A power steering hose was touching the exhaust and when it burnt through it was flame on.
He had a hose handy so the only damage was some clean up.
Could have been bad.

I have the Corvette I just bought insured with the NCM and it is not driveable. They still wanted pictures of the car, but I didn't need to send pictures of the boxes of parts. I do have other collectable cars insured with them, so I am not sure if that makes a difference or not. We agreed on the value of the car.

I have my Corvettes insured with NCM. They're very fair on price. I did have a claim this past summer and it could not have went smoother. They went above and beyond to take care of me and were very prompt. I highly recommend them.
