I am in the process of upgrading a mid-March build 270 HP 1957. E57S102655 I is a #2 driver now and want to upgrade to NCRS or near NCRS standards. All major components are original. Saganaw 3 speed is done. Engine is nearing the detailing, painting, bolt on component stage, and I am looking for documentation of just how these details should be done correctly the first time. Paint, sequence, clips, etc. I have the 53-62 corvette operations performance manual vintage fall 1999, 4th ed Corvette technical information manual & judging guide, and the GM assembly instruction manual. They do not seem to provide many of the small details. Can you folks who have already done this successfully please advise me as to which references, manuals, dvds, NCRS and otherwise I should have as I work thru this project. Two years ago I upgraded a nice original 65 although did not go to the NCRS level of detail. I have restored many early brass cars and have been restoring cars to original form for about 45 years. I would like to find information to do it correctly the first time. I am sure the website archives search can help me if I can figure out how to use it effectively Thank you in advance for any and all advice you can provide. John

Re: NCRS and Other refeerence manuals for 1957 Restoration
John,
1st step would be to acquire the latest 6th Edition Judging Guide
National Corvette Restorers Society! 1953-62 NCRS Technical Information Manual & Judging Guides - Where does 48 years worth of detailed Corvette research by the experts in the Corvette Hobby go? In these books. The new editions are GREATLY expanded at 200+ pages and well worth the additional cost. The 1953-55 238 page color 7th edition is now available. The 338 page 1961-1962 Tech Manual is NOW AVAILABLE! The 352 page 1956-1957

John
one way you can effectively search the TDB for relevant threads is to touch the blue 5657 icon on your thread on page 1. This will filter all threads that include that icon. There you will find pages of 56 57 specific threads that you can then peruse and perhaps find topics that pertain to what you are working on at a given time.
good luck getting your 57 up to a higher restoration level.- Top
