    Maybe I am thinking of the switch on the latch side of the door jam which is the alarm? That one is screwed into a plate that is riveted to the fiberglass and needs a ground. Thanks for the correction.

    The rear switch is for the "door ajar" indicator as well as the alarm, if so equipped.

      Joe,
      I forgot about the door ajar function. I read the original post wrong and thought the Jerome was referring to this switch. However, I think that even though the front switch is screwed into the birdcage, the second wire is still a ground wire. I think all Corvette plunger switches including the hood alarm switch have 2 wires for rounding purposes.

        Yes, the second wire to the courtesy lamp/ignition buzzer switch is a ground. I believe it is a black wire. The other wire is white.
