    65 Coupe door lock knob

I have worked on removing this knob for two days, trying a small pick tool, wire, string and cannot get the clip to fall out. I now am thinking of drilling out the knob working slowly as I go.

    Regards,
    Dave K.

There is a tool to remove the "horse shoe" clips (used on lock, window & vent handles) that is well worth the money. Another old trick is to spin a shop rag under the knob and sometimes the fabric will catch the end of the clip and pull it out. Good luck, Don H.

I made a tool out of a strong thin steel dental pick by forming a pigtail on the end in the form of a semicircle. Push in the door panel around the knob to get a little clearance.Using a hair dryer you can make it more pliable. Don't overheat or you will ruin. Then find out which way the horseshoe clip is facing so that you know which way to pull. Slide the newly made tool under the clip making sure the sharp end of the tool is facing away from the door panel so as not to scratch. Then simply pull the clip out. I can do it in 10 seconds but have done it many times. I can send you a drawing if you email me at billygould@comcast.net . Good luck
