1965 Coupe A/C Lower Duct Seal Material

    Hello There,
I am putting together my Interior dash and firewall area after being apart for at least 10 years and I did not take it all apart!
I have installed the inside heater/A/C Distribution box and used seals from Doc Rebuild all have worked fine so far.
Until Now I am trying to install the lower Distribution duct that goes to the R/H side Ball duct and to the Center Dash duct.
The Kit I have has a die cut foam rubber seal for this connection and it seems to be way to big? Also I am wandering if that is what was really used in this spot or did they use Dum Dum or strip caulk?
I have enclosed pictures of the duct and the seal supplied by Doc rebuild. Please disregard my BUBBA repair as I cannot afford at this time a new Duct !
I am just looking for someone that has taken an original car apart in this area and knows what the seal should be made of!
    Thanks in advance!
    Bill

    William,
I did my 67 a couple of years ago and my memory is not always perfect. My foam seals had pretty much turned to dust but I think that is what was there originally.
I think once you get that seal to conform to all the bends it won't be too long. Do you still have the Doc's instruction sheet? it explains how to install it.
I think I used some additional strip caulk to seal up some small gaps.
Have you attached the distribution box to the firewall yet?
    Kind regards

Yes the dist box is attached and the dash frame is back in. I went ahead and glued the seal in place per the docs instructions.
      Thanks for your reply

        William,
Did you have any trouble with the seal between the dist box and the firewall? The density of the foam was such I ended up compressing it before installing or I couldn't get the bolts far enough through the firewall to get the nuts started.
        Thanks

Yes it was hard but I finally got it. I think I got the inside ones started first and used them to pull it up enough to get the outside ones started. Was hard because it was late at night and I did not have anyone to help me!
