part fell off of my 1966

Attached are 3 photos of a piece that I believe fell off of my 1966 (under side, top side, close up of some numbers). The shape of the piece is similar to a bicycle fender. It appears to have come from the passenger side of the car, somewhere between the 2 tires. The gray pieces in the pictures came from the top side of the piece. I would appreciate it if someone could ID the part for me and where it may have come from. This is my first Covette and I have only had it for a month now. Still learning things. Thank you.

Is your car equipped with side mounted exhaust? By your description, I would guess it is a exhaust shield front insulater. It glues to the inside of the cover.

                David

saw your picture in the test area and posted one there myself.
                from my iPad.

thanks for the reinforcement. I must have been doing something wrong before.

Yes, it has side pipes. I think I finally have 2 of the pictures added to the overall post.

My thanks to everyone for their input. I have ordered a replacement heat shield and will head to the auto store to get some JB Weld.

I'm glad I did a search first. My rt side also fell off but wasn't damaged. I wish I remembered which day it fell off of my '66 early last summer to compare. We must have been a couple of days past the warrantee. Ha ha
How did the JB weld work out? I have that grey looking adhesive on mine also.

Mark - the JB weld has held up just fine so far. The hardest part of it was kneeding it to mix the two components together. Then it does not smooth on real well. But all in all I have been happy with it.
