    '72 door plunger swtich

The plunger switch seams to not extend (spring out) out all the way when the door is fully opened. Thus the interior courtesy lights fail to come on. I can gently wiggle the plunger and/or gently pull on the plunger, and the lights come on. The next time the door is opened same thing no lights until I move the plunger.

Opinion: obviously, I have a poor connection. Short of replacing the switch or checking the wire connect, is there any problem with spraying the unit with some CRC's - Lectra-Motive Electric Parts Spray Cleaner or similar to lubricate and clean the plunger and hopefully remedy my problem.

    Your thoughts.

There's no problem with doing what you suggest but I don't think it will solve the problem. More likely, the shaft of the switch has become slightly bent or distorted.

I had the same issue. I used contact spray and it has been working ever since.
