    Need Help with Identifying Hubcap

A friend found some hubcaps that I first thought were P0-2's but do not have the raised hub in the middle. Can anyone give some information what these are off of and the year? Thanks, Terry

John, there are 3 pictures attached to the thread. Not sure why you do not see them.

Most likely they are passenger car caps. I had someone try to convince me one time that the non raised ones were for the curb side (DS) so they would not hit the concrete curb. I walked away quickly before the idiot factor jumped on me from him.

No pics here either, but the 15-inch non-raised caps are found on Monte Carlos of the period. Might be on some other models of the time as well.

Sorry guys, when I go on line and click on the thread the 3 pictures come up. Not sure how that happens and why you cannot see them.

The biggest difference between these hubcaps and P0-2's is that the mystery caps have a flat center hub where the PO-2 center hub is not flat but has different height circles.

Flat centered caps came on a variety of GM cars
                Impala Caprice Monte Carlo
I've seen Buicks with PO2s with a different center cap
Even a 14" used on Camaro

I think they were an optional, sport wheel cover. I remember seeing them on a lot of Monte Carlos and Impalas especially 71 and 72 models though may have been available other years. To add to the confusion, the centers featured crossed flags much like the ones typically associated with Corvettes of that time period, but they were never offered on Corvettes. Many have been sold at the swap meets as PO2s to the uninitiated. Chip.

This is addressed in the 1970-72 TIM:

P02, a finned full-wheel cover, is an option for 1970-72. This cover has a projected center ornament with recessed emblem that differs from a similar Chevrolet passenger-car cover that has a flat center ornament/emblem.
