    Max Tire Width for 56-62?

    Hi all,

I had P205/75 R15 Coker radials on my 1960 until one of the tires totally warped and bulged. So I put on Firestone P225/70 R15 tires on six-inch rims. The front tires fit fine, but the rear tires rub the inside of the fender. Since the P205/75 Coker's fit, I assume that P205/70 R15 would fit, but if i could go P215/70 R15, that would be better since having the wider tires in the front is a bit unorthodox.

    What say ye?

I have 215 x 70 on my 60 with no issue Quite frankly I still prefer the look of the 205 x 75

Cheap Goodyears from Walmart work well as they dry rot before we wear them out

Bob, I like the 205 75 R 15 on both C1 and C2s. They fill out the wheel well nicely and have adequate fender clearance.

I've been running 215-70-15 Diamondback Michelin whitewalls on my 61. No rubbing issues and they look great. A little more rubber never hurts as long as you don't go too big.

On my 62 I run 225x70x15 all around. If your tire is hitting the inside of fender how much clearance do you have to the leaf spring? Different backspacing of rims make alot of difference in where the tire sits in wheel wheel. With my 225's I have to run a rim with 4 inch backspacing!

Also measure the clearance on both sides between the body and tire edge or frame. The body may not have been placed centered on the frame.
