1958 FI 250 HP spark plugs

Guys: The question is this? What are the correct spark plugs for a 58 fuel with the low HP (250HP ) I believe they should be AC Delco green ring 44N ..N for non resistor. Have I got this correct? Thanks for your input. Ken B (63547)

    Ken,
Either AC 44 or 45 depending on your type of driving, You can cross reference to other brands.
    Good luck,
    Don H.

Thanks Don, are all AC 44 AC45 Nonresistor plugs? I have been using NG non resistor plugs and the car runs well, the problem is, when I got the car thru top flight this spring, NCRS did not like the NG plugs..surprise surprise.I know the 45's are a little hotter running plug and may be better in my climate ( north ). The point is after wading thru the archives, apparently in 58 , the plugs did not have green rings ( perhaps until late 58 ) but did have ceramic corolox rings. Sooo, I guess if all the 44 and 45 plugs are Nonresistant, then it's NO green rings, and no letters after the 44/or 45

        Ken,
The 1959 and 1964 AC Spark Plug catalog list the plug as "Moderate Service" AC44; "Light Service" AC46. It should be noted that late in the '57 production, the AC46 was used and probably carried forward through '59 (Noland Adams page 314). I would guess that the 46 was also the production plug in '58 although I can't find documentation and Adams book is silent on '58 plugs. Also, the Corolox trademark was used on the older non-ribbed plugs and may have carried over to the first "Hot Tip" plugs in 1956 (ribbed). Since "Hot Tip" was the new trademark, Corolox was soon discarded. These plugs have the ribs but are not green. They are very hard to find since they were 4 year only ('56-'59) plugs. The green rings came out in 1960 as "Fire Ring". These have the green rings. The dates of usage are documented from old AC Sparkplug ads that are dated. Also, "N" does not stand for non-resistor but designates a 3/4" reach, half threaded plug which would probably smash into your pistons and generally create havoc. Hope this helps.
        Jeff
