    1969 Radio & Heater Delete

What are the numbers on Radio & Heater Delete 1969 Corvettes with the Big Block Tri Power 435HP motors.

    Thanks, Joe

Sorry Joe, there was no heater delete after 1967. Someone thought having a defrost function available was a safety issue for those driving in inclement weather. Imagine that!!

Now as for those 1969 Corvettes ordered without a radio -- I'll leave that to those with a Black Book or NCRS Spec Guide handy. I have neither while on the road.

You know better than this. There's no way of knowing how many cars with a certain combination of options were manufactured. Folks have been asking this kind of question for years and no one's been able to give a definitive answer yet.

However, I can tell you how many 1953-82 Corvettes had the radio delete option. The answer is ZERO. That's because radios were an optional item; if you didn't order one, you didn't get one. So, none were deleted although there are some cars that never had one originally installed. Beginning with 1984 basic radios were a standard feature and could be deleted for a credit.

No 1968 or later Corvette had a heater delete option. That's because Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (MVSS) applicable for the 1968 model year (or, possibly, beginning the 1968 calendar year) required cars to have a defroster. Without a heater, you can't have a defroster. So, after that time all cars had to have a heater.

Thanks for the information. As you can see, I know nothing about C-3's and just looking for information on a 69 that a local fellow says it has no radio or heater.
Just another of those people who could not pass the ownership test on owning a Corvette!

Well, it could have no radio. However, no heater I don't think so. There's no way that GM would have defied the MVSS. The only possible exception I could see would be a "prototype" or other car never intended for registration (i.e. without a VIN number).
