    '57 Windshield Wiper Motor

Would anyone know why when we turn on the windshield wipers with the engine running, it kills the engine? When we hook up the wiper motor directly to the car battery, the wiper motor runs fine.

Salvador, might you have the wiper motor wire on the wrong side of the ballast resistor?

You probably have the power for the wiper motor coming from the coil side of the ballast resistor. Check that and, if I'm right, move the wire to the 12V side of the resistor.

That was it! Thanks for the help. We are getting ready to have it judged at the Lonestar Regional Event. Working out all the little bugs.
