1963 Wiring Harness M&H or LectricLimited?

I have seen a few recommendations in the Forum for M&H wiring harness vs LectricLimited. Any particular reason(s) why?

    Thanks in Advance.

    Fredrick,
i asked for the same advice last year for my 63 engine harness. It seemed that M&H was the preferred choice. I went that way and found it to work very well. LL is likely a good choice as well.

Most likely personal preference. I have used Lectric Limited with very satisfactory results. Some say the M&H dash leads are a bit longer making install a bit easier, while some have said they have had issues with the Lectric Limited dash bulb sockets not fitting correctly. Again, I had no issues. Don't think you will be disappointed whichever one you choose. Both made in the U.S.A.

Those same criticisms of Lectric Limited are PRECISELY what I heard. Frankly, I'd go M&H....

I've used products from both LL and M&H on multiple cars. About 10+ years ago, there was an issue with the bulb sockets on LL harnesses. That was corrected long ago. I just replaced every wire in my 65 with LL products and everything fit and operated perfectly. Based on my real world experience with both suppliers, I see no reason to choose one over the other.

I found some major differences in the LL Headlight harness. Both in wire color and it the method the harness is attached under the front valance. However, I guess that should be expected with all the running changes in the 63. Don't forget 63's have two different headlight extension harness. I found it easiest to just match the one you have in the car as the catalog pictures are good enough to do this.

I had no issues with the bulbs in the dash.

Don't forget to save the alternator boot as it is different from the one you will receive on the harness.

If you replace the under dash harness, don't expect to be able to pull the glove box light end from the GB light switch. It is just too easy to damage the switch and its a one year only part. Not only is it difficultly to replace the wire but it would have to be done again anytime the glove box is removed if you want to get the liner out of the way.

Pictured above is what I ended up doing. I cut the original wire and added a fuse to the light, as it is not protected from the factory. And as a bonus I can disconnect the light anytime the GB has to come out. The black fuse is just an iteration I didn't use but made it into the picture. It is stuffed in above the GB and is difficult to see without pulling the liner.

I did basically the same thing with my 63's glove box light - its the only change I made to the harness...a prior owner had rewired the dash with the LL reproduction harness...

M & H is the way to go unless you want problems!

Thanks to all for your responses. Huge help on the photo of the GB switch as mine was disconnected from the wire - will do the same connection.

I have used nothing but M&H harnesses and have had excellent results.

About 10 years ago I installed LL new harness from front to back. Very disappointing. Wires in the wrong places on plugs. Call them and they said to pound sand.
