    using current deco batteries in C-2's

    owners often elect to use the current AC Deco replacement batteries in their non-c-60 c-2's, as
    these batteries only suffer a 12 point deduct. in order to use the factory style battery retainer, you'll have to do some minor grinding of the barratry case where the transportation straps attach to the battery. save yourself some time and place the hold down(retainer) on the battery before you drop the battery into the chassis, then grind material preventing hold-down from correctly positioning itself.
    if you have a c-60 c-2, their hold-downs don't interfere with the battery's current configuration. mike

    Yup. I wish I had known this tip before my regional judging - trying to get the battery hardware to fit while its in the car is a PITA...

      Thanks Mike
      I was just considering the Delco purchase.
      Where I live the only Delco dealer left in town is the Chevrolet Dealership.
      They are know for charging 20% over MSRP on parts.
      The battery pricing seems to be fair as I just purchased a Delco for my 2006 Corvette there.

      As a side note;
      The reproduction C2 battery tray support seems to be bent slightly different than the stock one.
      It makes it difficult to get the splash shield, under the battery, installed.
      I am attaching a picture, taken from under the car, of the original shield without the rubber attached.

      Anyone else having this issue? I am considering using the original lower bracket and a new tray. I am hoping this modification will allow the shield to fit better.
