Trailer Tie Down Methods for 1992 C4

    Trailer Tie Down Methods for 1992 C4

    Question - what is the best tie down method to use for 1992 C4 ZR-1? Any special tie downs required?

    Am used to trailering C1 & C2 by using tie down straps to front and rear suspension.

    Gary I always used two straps front and rear on my 89 Callaway I crossed tied the rear straps and ran the front straps over and around the A frames
    You just have to be careful of the front air deflector

      Thanks. Was wondering if the A Frames or shipping holes were used for the tie downs.

      Hopefully, the 2 - 2x12's am adding to the floor of my trailer will help with the front air deflector clearance. I had to add 2x12's to haul Gilbert's '84 for him, but forgot how the tie downs went.

        Unsure it this is even possible with the 1992's but here goes.
        Whenever possible I tie down the tires and let the car float on the suspension.
        The trailer tows so much smoother it's downright amazing.
        As an additional benefit it removes much of the shock loading from the tie down straps.
        Down side is it typically requires special straps designed to go over the tires.

          E track and over the tire ratchet straps on all four tires

            Yes Sir, e track over tire ratchet straps on all four tires, all of the later model lower ground clearance vehicles work best this way, allows you to put ratchet in front of the front tires and behind the rear tires where they can be properly tightened. With no worry about abrasion, interference, flex from long straps or awkwardness of operating ratchets around the body.

                When I was autocrossing my C4, I used the factory tie down points. These are located at the back of the front wheel well, and front of the rear. They are an eyelet and used the 10k lb hook straps. Towed all over the country this way with no issues.
