    C1 "Gorilla" Clutch Return/Assist Spring

    Hi all,

I see that there are different clutch return/assist springs for 1955-57 and 1958-62. What is the difference? What if you interchange them?

    Thanks,

    Bob

They aren't really return springs, they are "over-center" springs exhibiting bi-stability; they help the operator in both directions...and my guess would possibly be different spring rates between the earlier and later C1s but that's a guess... However the ST-12 adjustment for all C1s is the same vis a vis the clutch operation...
