Guys, I own a 67- 327-350hp car that is totally a show car. (Mostly concours now) It goes in the trailer, I might run it around a very little bit, but not much, and out of the trailer , back to the garage again What plugs would you recommend. This is no longer an NCRS car so I don't care about brand or heat range!

Re: spark plugs for trailer queen
AC 45.........or similar with this heat range. R45 ,R45S, or 45S are all about the same.
Originals were AC 44, which will foul rather quickly from short run start and stop driving.
Duke has also recommended DENSO brand. He has a specific number for the plug, that I cannot remember at this time without going to my files. But it is similar to AC 45 in performance and resistance to fouling..
I run the AC 45 plug, also with limited use, and no issues or plug changes last 15 years. Ebay is one source for originals.........and now reproductions are also available. I have not tried the reproductions, but they should be fine.

Re: spark plugs for trailer queen
I ran AC Delco R45S plugs in my '67 300HP for years. Although they ran fine, I made a change to NGK B4 earlier this year after doing some research. They're a non-resistor plug with a heat range equivalent to an AC 45. It may just be my perception, but I believe my idle is smother and vacuum is steadier. If you're not worried about judging, you might give them a try - in stock at my local Napa. It's also a nice looking plug.Attached FilesLast edited by Michael M.; September 22, 2019, 04:56 PM.- Top

Re: spark plugs for trailer queen
Many have used AC 45S in the high compression motors without issue. But if you have doubts, use the 45 or the NKG/DENSO.

EDIT I would not have recommended them in Post #2 if they were an issue.- Top

Re: spark plugs for trailer queen
I believe, like the 45, the 45S is long out of production. Maybe you are referring to the R45S. That's a resistor plug. Also, most L-79s either Flint-built or rebuilt run detonation-free on unleaded premium, even with a more aggressive spark advance map than the very lazy OE map.

If you're looking for the NGK B-4 and having difficulty, they can be found under the NGK stock number 3210. NGK packages them in boxes of 10, but Napa will sell them individually.Attached Files- Top

Re: spark plugs for trailer queen
I recall when the LS1 came out in 1997 the OE plug was a Denso. I'm not sure what brand they are using, today. Since the plugs are essentially "invisible" to casual operation if spark plug shields are in place and the car is not going through NCRS judging, not one will know.
I agree with your observation about tires, since the brand is easily visible, and my preference would be for a traditional American brand unless your objective is maximum grip in which case English (Avon) and Dutch (Vredestein) are the best choices.
